Une visite report\u00e9e deux fois au cours de l'ann\u00e9e, fortement souhait\u00e9e et soutenue par plusieurs parties, comme l'atteste nul autre que Oliviero Diliberto, secr\u00e9taire national des communistes italiens (\u00ab Ciampi est un magnifique ambassadeur pour l'Italie \u00bb, ANSA, 5\/12), mais qui, d'une part, a divis\u00e9 la majorit\u00e9 gouvernementale et, d'autre part, a cr\u00e9\u00e9 un certain embarras dans la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 civile italienne. Le 5 d\u00e9cembre, en effet, Ciampi d\u00e9clare : \u00ab J'ai confirm\u00e9 au pr\u00e9sident Hu Jintao que l'Italie est favorable \u00e0 la lev\u00e9e de l'embargo sur les exportations d'armes et travaille activement pour la rendre possible \u00bb.
